Welcome

Welcome to my blog...as a beginner i am enjoying what all i can do, explore, create, and share.....born and raised and based in the greatest state... North Carolina..I love we have it all... the mountains, the piedmont, the sand hills and the coast. I love we have the four seasons...and I try and enjoy each with gusto...

One of my favorite carolina times is I love to ride my bike ...love the morning ride and talking about what it means...and have been doing so so so early... mostly leaving by 6 :30 am...most morning....otherwise..I do love sharing my photo's...enjoy!!!

Another one of my most favorite carolina times is I also love to travel...well actually exploring this great state.... mostly spur of the moment and trying out new experiences such as foods, wines, friendships, cultures, music, whether I'm in new cities, towns, villages, remote areas, or major cities, small towns ...I call them "drive arounds"....

In my 52 years have also traveled the USA and visited or vacationed in 39 of the states including Alaska and Hawaii. In 2000 I marked the millinium for the kids by buying a RV and traveling for 35 days 19 states and 8900 miles. We started in Wilmington NC and went east to St. Louis and then followed the Lewis and Clark trail and then north to Puguet Sound down the west coast all the way to Barstow CA and then back to NC via Grand Canyon and all point inbetween...
I have traveled to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, the UK, Scotland, Ireland, England, Holland, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Spain, Italy, and still planning...

I also love to just take notes as i call them .... thus these written blogs...mostly to pass on to my kids at some point...my life stories and my lessons as well as thoughts, poems, and just plain notes...

Attitudes.... a tribute to Ima L. E. Sauer

Ima as a young child in Indonesia

Growing up my mom, Ima, had many things she shared with us and we lost her at the age of 49
She was born in Indonesia and was adopted by a Dutch family(spice traders) and came to live in the Netherlands in Amsterdam
She meet my dad during a difficult time World War II, both almost losing their lives.
They overcame a lot and survived living in Zwolle and became husband and wife, a strong willed blue eyed Dutchman and a very talented brown eyed Indonesian
They had a son, my oldest brother Lucas and decided to come to America because of friends in Western NC
They decided to stay in Reems Creek, a old hollow in the Blue Ridge mountains, in Buncombe County and raise a family of their own....Lucas, Ian Robin, Marina and Aletta..
As they did ....we grew up...and we learned:

love is not hard
there is no place for hate
to share
to be a brother & sister
birthdays are special so make it special for someone
clean as you go
to work as a group
Help the neighbors and those less fortunate
that family is unconditional
moms ands dads do make mistakes
never forget your roots
Find peace in something
Find a happy place when times get tough
learn something every day
Use your hands for something constructive
singing and music are important
Don't sleep the day away
meals are to be shared by all-it's a gathering
never harm the family name
Be color blind
be a good citizen
work hard and earn your pay

and my favorite...you get to chose your attitude every day...chose it wisely because you never get to go back!
